We love making mailboxes, it’s what we’ve been doing for the past 20+ years. Providing a large range of products and options that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing is what we strive for and we try really hard to always balance quality control with budget.

This blog post is designed to help you understand what you can reasonably expect from a letterbox in relation to quality and finishing. It’s a mailbox, not a Rolls Royce! This is most clearly explained in the Terms of Sale listed on our website and the relevant extract is shown below;

Quality: Mailboxes are an outdoor utility device and are finished in accordance with industry standards for a product of that nature, i.e. small imperfections in paintwork, castings or manufacture are accepted.

Finishing: Letterboxes are designed for exterior applications and are subject to weather, pollutants, bird attacks and all sorts of circumstances which are too many to list. They are not considered high end pristine products, please do not expect a “Rolls Royce” finish on your product. A condition of sale is that the product may contain spot weld marks, small blemishes in the powder coat, small ripples or surface deformation, casting porosity and while all due care is taken, these minor defects are considered acceptable in relation to the nature of the product.

Now as a self-proclaimed perfectionist, I know that this can be pretty daunting to read. Rest-assured that these accepted cosmetic imperfections will not reduce functionality or accelerate deterioration of your mailbox. Plus, by the time your letterbox is installed and you take a step back, will anyone actually notice a small mark or indent?

If pride in our work and holding to industry standard are our top two criteria for quality control, then number three would have to be our goal to do better than others. We regularly visit major hardware stores to compare product styles and quality. This presents no challenge, and we immediately supersede on all counts. Customer feedback is considered and 98% of our customers are exceedingly happy. We look at “kudos” value and find our products featured in some of Australia’s most prestigious properties, we have featured on the television show The Block more than once and we are continually specified by some of Australia’s leading architects and designers.
